How can same-day delivery help improve business revenues?

It’s no secret that in this day and age customers want fast service to fit with their fast paced lives. We’ve become used to getting what we want almost immediately when it comes to food and with many retailers now offering same-day delivery we can get parcels within a matter of hours.

When it comes to delivery, nothing beats fast and reliable deliveries, allowing us to get our goods within hours.

However it’s a two way street. Same-day deliveries are not only beneficial for the customer but also for businesses as well.

Meet Customer Expectations

A recent study by Invesp shows that 56% of consumers expect businesses to offer same-day delivery. Whilst 80% want it to be mandatory. Same-day delivery is the way for retailers to keep up with the evolving consumer needs of today.

Not surprisingly, cost, speed and convenience of delivery all influence whether or not the customer will go back again to purchase from the same retailer. Meeting customer expectations reinforces brand loyalty and helps keeping them coming back time and time again.

25% of shoppers say they would likely abandon online shopping if the store doesn’t offer same-day delivery.

Customers are willing to pay more for delivery

Customers have become so used to getting orders faster that they are willing to pay extra fees if it means they’ll get what they want quick. PWC’s 2018 Global Consumer Insights Survey found that 80% of shoppers are willing to pay more for same-day delivery.

As noted above, customers will be more inclined to shop with a retailer if they offer same-day delivery.

However, offering same-day delivery means retailers need to stay on top of their orders and stock inventories to ensure supply meets demand.

Delivery Partners Can Be Cheaper

Shipping is not cheap. Even for well established stores, logistics can take up a big part of the budget. Additional staff and delivery personnel, not to mention all the training and equipment all add to the costs impact on your revenue growth.

Whether you’re running a start-up or large business having a strategic and well thought out shipping strategy is essential to meeting customer demand. Bringing an experienced delivery partner on board to handle shopping needs would help you meet delivery standards to drive down logistical costs.

Delivery partners such as Go People, would ensure shipping fulfillment that is on time through route optimization and order management. All of this, minus the additional costs, meaning retailers can focus on growing their business.

As technologies develop so will customer demands, meaning it is more important than ever for companies to get on top of their delivery strategies to keep up with the market.
