Zero-emission forklift manufacturer BYD sponsors Environment category of The Logistics Awards

Technology leader BYD, the manufacturer and global supplier of industry-leading pure electric vehicles, is sponsoring the Environment category of The Logistics Awards 2019.

Taking place at the prestigious Vox Centre, alongside Birmingham’s NEC, on the evening of Thursday 26th September during IMHX week, the glitzy black-tie ceremony is expected to attract over 500 guests. Considered the premier awards event for logistics and supply chain operations, The Logistics Awards were established in 2014 (as the SHD Logistics Awards), and its winners read like a Who’s Who of leading-edge businesses – large and small – from across the sector, including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Clipper Logistics, and Kellogg’s.

The event will be hosted by BBC television presenter Naga Munchetty, and The Environment Award will be handed out by Gary Winter, BYD’s UK & Ireland Country Manager.

“In the quest to reduce the impact of logistics operations on the environment, BYD is a pre-eminent player,” says Gary Winter. “Our profile as an innovative producer of pure electric technology solutions makes the Environment category of The Logistics Awards the logical one to support, as it is this aspect of our solutions that initially draws customers to us worldwide.

“However, as visitors to our stand at IMHX will see for themselves, our range of intralogistics equipment also offers significant health and safety advantages over conventional lead acid battery-powered competitors, as there is no need to exchange or top-up BYD’s unique Iron-Phosphate batteries.”

Founded in 1995 as a pioneer in battery technology, BYD’s mission is to change the world by creating a complete, clean-energy ecosystem that reduces reliance on fossil fuels. In Europe, it is dedicated to making public transport emission-free, with almost 90% of electric buses on the UK’s roads designed, manufactured and supplied by BYD.

Gary Winter concludes: “It is a great privilege to be on stage with the superstars of the European logistics sector, and we wish all the shortlisted finalists the very best of luck.”
