Transaid launches 2022 Christmas Appeal

Transaid launches 2022 Christmas Appeal

Transaid launches its Christmas Appeal to transform lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.

International development organisation Transaid has recently launched its Christmas Appeal, and invites the transport and logistics industry to get involved, and help Transaid to strengthen its ability to transform lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.

Companies have the opportunity to choose from a variety of Christmas Appeal publicity packages, which include the option for an exclusive personalised Transaid Christmas e-card design, company logo placement on the Transaid website, a personalised ‘thank you’ video from the Transaid team, social media coverage, and prominent logo placement options in a festive double page spread in a record fifteen industry publications.

Why support?

Transaid works in two core areas, road safety and access to healthcare, to solve two of the biggest transport challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. An estimated 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. Even though low and middle income countries only account for approximately 60% of the world’s vehicles, they experience 93% of the global fatalities on roads. Transaid supports drivers, governments, and training institutions to improve road safety, and since 2008, Transaid has trained more than 100 professional driver trainers, who have in turn delivered training to more than 50,000 mostly HGV, PSV and forklift drivers.

Transaid works with local partners and communities to strengthen access to healthcare services, primarily in rural areas. This includes the establishment of emergency transport systems (ETS) to reduce the barrier to healthcare posed by lack of transport. The organisation’s MAM@Scale programme is reaching a population of one million people with its innovative, community-led approach to tackling severe malaria in rural Zambia.
