Director – North Yorkshire (England)

Our client, freight forwarding and cargo handling service, are currently looking for a Director to join their team in Selby, to manage the day to day business and oversee the Operations, Sales and Accounts functions.

Duties of the Director:

Participating in the UK Warehousing and Distribution operations as well as the Worldwide Freight Forwarding.
Ensuring the service levels are of a good standard.
Maintaining and improving profit margins across all disciplines.
Supporting the Sales team, calculating quotations, exploring all potential suppliers and negotiating competitive rates.
Building and maintaining key relationships with clients and conducting face to face meetings where required. 
Overseeing the accounts and administration functions, ensuring the sales invoices are processed in a timely manner, purchase invoices are checked and processed quickly and any queries proactively resolved.
Credit control and obtaining payment in accordance terms.
Drafting an annual budget with complete visibility of the monthly management accounts.
Ensuring the staff are adequately supported and when required, recruiting, training and mentoring new staff.
Taking responsibility for the office and warehouse buildings and overall site.

Requirements for this Director position:

Multi-modal freight forwarding experience.
Operations experience and willingness to roll up sleeves and participate when required.
Man management experience (Sales and or Operations).
Leading by example.
Control of profit and loss and drafting annual budgets.
Key account management experience with proven success of developing relationships.
New business development.
Proven success of handling and calculating tender submissions.
Experience of face to face client and supplier meeting.
Ability to motivate, mentor and appraise staff.
Good IT Skills.
