Freight Forwarding Customer Service Operator – Essex (England)

Our Client is an International Freight Forwarding company providing international and logistical needs from 3PL to sea, road and air freight.  Due to increased global growth, they are looking to appoint a Freight Forwarding Customer Services Operator to join their Customer Services and Freight Forwarding departments within their office in Basildon.

As Freight Forwarding Customer Services Operator, you will Assist the Head of Customer Services in support of the company ‘s vision to become more competitive and profitable .

Freight Forwarding Customer Services Operator duties include:

Understand and execute the departments vision of good business to ensure outstanding customer services to clients
Maintain the operations system ensuring customer bookings are accurately recorded
Maintain regular communication with sales teams reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments
Create new and maintain current SOPs for the department
Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager
Maintain key accounts and ensure general enquiries are expedited
Gain feedback where possible and follow up enquiries
Deal with customer/client complaints are expedited in the agreed timeline in accordance with SOPs
Aid Credit Control with collection of overdue payments from suppliers/clients
Ensure customer due diligence checks are completed for new customers
Maintain at all times high standards of personal quality, Health & safety and professionalism and actively promote all company policies and procedures
Represent the company in the best possible light at all times
Oversee client and sub-contractor management in line with polices, practices and procedures
Ensure financial transactions comply with company policy and procedures, legal requirements, and good practice guidelines
Ensure to carry out processes, practices in line with policies, practices, and procedures.
Ensure customer b ookings are entered on to the operations system accurately
Provide customers with accurate and cost-effective quotations within a timely fashion
Confirm quotations received by telephone within half an hour
Booking consignments with third party contractors
Quoting cross trade consignments
Booking deliveries in with customers
Liaising with suppliers / Origin Offices
Invoicing and Administration
Ensure Bookings made with Origin office

Sound knowledge of freight market rates and services is vital as well as a good operational know-how of logistics processes and procedures.  You’ll be organised by nature and have and the ability to prioritise your own workload as well as be able to work as part of a team.  Being computer literate, having excellent attention to detail skills, as well as being good with numbers and a confident communicator are imperative attributes for the Freight Forwarding Customer Services Operator.
