Our Client is an International Freight Forwarding company providing international and logistical needs from 3PL to sea, road and air freight. Due to increased global growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Freight Forwarding Branch Manager to oversee all import/export, warehouse operations and facilities management for their Manchester office.
As Freight Forwarding Branch Manager, you will be responsible for leadership and team management, operational management, sales and customer management, financial / procurement activity and reporting, whilst ensuring compliance, as well as health and safety, at all times.
Freight Forwarding Branch Manager duties include:
Oversee import and export operations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of legal, financial, and invoicing tasks.
Create, maintain, and enforce SOPs for the department, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Communicate and report internal leads to sales and customer service teams.
Ensure accurate quotations are processed, communicated in a timely manner, and recorded.
Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Manage warehouse operations and maintain smooth workflow.
Line manage staff, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure efficient performance.
Supervise local sales activities, ensuring the sales team is informed and delivering services as per the company’s objectives.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships, addressing queries and concerns.
Report sales activities and ensure ongoing communication with the company’s network.
Authorise and scrutinise invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Oversee department cost capture, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Ensure value for money in procurement processes.
Lead, mentor, and support team members in achieving their goals and targets.
Provide training, supervision, and maintain staff training records.
Ensure timely generation of reports and submission to line management.
Act as Fire Warden / Health & Safety representative.
Skills and experience required from the Freight Forwarding Branch Manager:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to solve problems efficiently.
Solid financial management skills, particularly in cost tracking and invoice processing.
Fluent in both written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across all organisational levels.
Capable of working collaboratively in a team as well as independently with confidence.
Demonstrates initiative and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel).
We are keen to speak to people who have a comprehensive understanding of import/export operations and regulatory compliance, with proven experience in leading and managing teams effectively. You will need to have a strong background in health and safety management, ideally from a warehouse environment.
