About the Role
Our client is seeking a reliable and hardworking Business Removals Operative / HGV Class 2 Driver to join its professional relocation team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for moving, relocating and installing clients’ effects and company property carefully and safely. Work may involve relocations to new premises, storage facilities or recycling centres while maintaining excellent customer service and following company procedures.
This is a physically active and varied position that requires a careful, methodical approach and a strong commitment to protecting clients’ property and premises.
What you’ll do:
Drive rigid commercial vehicles in accordance with your Category C licence.
Load and unload vehicles, ensuring all goods are safely stowed and secured.
Move, relocate and install clients’ furniture, equipment and other effects carefully and safely.
Handle all items in accordance with manual handling and Health & Safety guidelines.
Protect clients’ premises and property throughout the relocation process.
Transfer goods into and out of storage and assist with inventory management.
Work on specialist relocation projects involving hospitals, laboratories, libraries and schools.
Move specialist fine art, furniture and other valuable items.
Undertake general removals duties as required.
Assist with the management of external contractors during deliveries.
Complete waste transfer notes and other required documentation accurately.
Carry out daily vehicle walk-around checks.
Follow all company procedures, legislative requirements and safe working practices.
Provide a professional, polite and friendly service to clients.
Promote the company’s values of putting customers first, doing the right thing and remaining flexible.
What you need:
A full Category C/Class 2 driving licence is essential.
Previous removals, relocation or relevant manual handling experience would be beneficial.
A punctual, reliable and hardworking approach.
Physical strength, fitness and endurance to carry and move large items, including working on stairs.
A careful and methodical approach to work.
An honest and responsible attitude towards other people’s property.
The ability to adapt, anticipate changes and implement practical solutions.
A proactive approach to identifying potential problems and helping to overcome them.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to use your own initiative.
A strong team player who is also comfortable working independently.
A professional, polite and friendly manner.
Good written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
Basic DBS clearance and BPSS clearance are essential and will be arranged by the company.
The following qualifications or certifications would be desirable:
FORS Awareness certification.
ADR classifications.
CSCS Card.
Asbestos Awareness certification.
Working Requirements:
The position involves working according to the needs of the business across the week. This may include evening or weekend work.
Longer-distance relocations may also involve overnight stays in accommodation or a vehicle, either within the UK or overseas.
