Our client, a provider of worldwide freight forwarding services, is currently looking to recruit a Sea Freight Operations Manager to join their team in St. Albans, to oversee the Operations Team and manage a proportion of their key clients. In return, youll receive a salary of up to £50K.
As the Operations Manager, youll be managing the freight bookings from collection through to final delivery, building relationships with the existing clients both over the telephone and face to face and deliver a high standard of customer care at all times and participating in the fortnightly operations management meeting and contribute to the overall efficiency of the business.
The successful candidate will ideally have Ocean Freight Forwarding experience, excellent customer service or sales experience and good attention to detail.
Duties of an Operations Manager:
Gaining a comprehensive understanding of each of the client requirements, calculating and negotiating AIR, ROAD and SEA spot quotations.
Meeting with key suppliers to maintain the most advantageous rates.
Manage, motivate and mentor the other Operation team members and help solve commercial and operational challenges.
Raising Job files and all of the appropriate operations paperwork.
Skills/requirements for an Operations Manager:
Confident communication skills
European languages an advantage (but not essential)
Can work to deadlines and handle pressure
Quick thinker / problem solving
Self-motivated and enthusiastic character
Ability to work with and support a team
