Role Overview
We are seeking a Seafreight Import Clerk who has both operational freight forwarding expertise and a commercial mindset. The ideal candidate will manage freight operations while also contributing to business development and sales efforts. This dual role is crucial in helping establish and expand the UK office.
Key Responsibilities for the role of Seafreight Import Clerk
Oversee sea freight import and export operations efficiently (LCL & FCL)
Support and contribute to business development and commercial sales efforts
Handle import customs clearance procedures
Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
Utilize and manage in-house forwarding software (Multifreight experience advantageous)
Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and company policies
Provide exceptional customer service and maintain strong client relationships
Collaborate with the team to improve and develop office operations
Skills & Experience Required for the role of Seafreight Import Clerk
3 to 5 years of experience in sea freight operations (import & export)
Experience in additional trade lanes such as air freight is a plus
Strong knowledge of import customs clearance procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
Experience with CNS & Destin8 systems
Strong numerical, literacy, and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work well as part of a team and contribute to office development
A dynamic, proactive approach with a willingness to go the extra mile
