Our client, a provider of Transport and Freight Forwarding solutions, is looking for an experienced Customs Clerk to join their team in Dover.
As the Customs Clerk, you will predominantly be dealing with imports, but handling some exports too. On a day-to-day basis, you will be dealing mainly with Customs entries each day. You will also be preparing documentation for customs clearance, process and monitor clearances.
Having good communication / customer service skills is a good attribute for this role, as you will be building good working relationships with both customers and colleagues as well as liaising with importers / exporters and others to obtain mandatory information for import and export entries.
Duties of the Customs Clerk:
Deal with all enquiries and queries quickly and efficiently relating to customs procedures, tariff classifications, duty rates and any other documentation requirements
Liaise with key customs partners
Advising Clients of cleared shipments
Maintain data integrity on all systems
Support and advise all customers whilst ensuring the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies
Competencies & Skills required for the Customs Clerk:
2 years’ experience in customs – experience using customs software is essential
Good understanding of the law and regulations surrounding customs clearance requirements
In return, the successful Customs Clerk will receive a salary depending on experience.
