The round-up on the last couple of weeks for shipping and freight forwarding recruitment and indeed shipping overall can be described as turbulent, erratic and bumpy. No change there then! With sterling dropping like a lead balloon after the “mini-budget” and the strikes in both Felixstowe and Liverpool having an effect on the market, it makes both clients and candidates wary.
Candidates, as most people know, are in real short supply and so start your search for new members of your company as soon as you can, it could take some time. And when you do see someone you like, close that deal before they are wooed away by your competitors.
If you’re on the job market yourself, take some time to access the market and I would recommend getting a consultant who knows the market to look after you. By using the services of a good recruitment company they can present you to clients, arrange interviews, provide feedback, negotiate on your behalf and guide you through the whole process of moving to a new company and more.
