Air Freight Import Clerk (4 on/4 off) – Berkshire (England)

Our client who specializes in Freight Forwarding, is currently seeking an Airfreight Import Clerk to join their team in Heathrow. Hours of this role are 4 on 4 off, 12:00pm-12:00am.

The role of the Airfreight Import Clerk is to plan / arrange deliveries, check manifests once receive and deal with customer queries.

You will be building strong working relationships with the Operational team and regularly liaising with customers regarding customs issues, so having strong communication skills is a must.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate import shipments and gather required documentation.
Manage and track shipments to ensure they are delivered according to schedule, keeping stakeholders informed of any delays or changes.
Monitor the arrival of shipments and prepare appropriate documentation for entry submission.
Prepare and verify import documentation such as customs declarations, bills of lading, invoices, and certificates of origin.
Communicate with customs authorities, ensuring compliance with import regulations and resolving any clearance issues.
Submit Import declarations using Cargowise.
Check that all documentation is accurate, ensuring compliance with both new and existing government legislation.
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all import transactions.

 

To be the successful Airfreight Import Clerk, you will need to have previous experience working within a Customs Brokerage environment.

You must come from a Freight Forwarding company and have strong knowledge of Import regulations, customs procedures, and documentation.

Knowledge and experience required:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
Experience using Cargowise or similar customs software provider.
Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff.

 

The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
