Airfreight Operator / BDM – Greater London (England)

Our client, providers of freight forwarding services, are currently looking for an Airfreight Operator to join their new branch in Heathrow.

Reporting to the Airfreight Manager / Director, the Airfreight Operator will support the Airfreight Manager to ensure that the company’s objectives are met in a consistent and proactive manner. To work towards enhancing the profitability of the section by working closely with both internal and external partners/suppliers and maintain a high level of customer contact.

On a day-to-day basis you will be costing and invoicing all shipments in accordance with company policy, while focusing on developing a good working relationship with your client accounts.  Reacting promptly and proactively to client requests, ensuring deadlines are kept by monitoring suppliers.  You will be required to maintain files in accordance with procedure, while achieving operational standards and reaching financial targets.

Airfreight Operator duties include:

Maintain and develop relationships with customer.
To meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests.
Monitor supplier performance.
Good file management and attention to detail.
Prepare quotations in accordance with client’s request.
Booking vehicles with subcontractors in accordance with requirement
Complete required consignment documentation.
Complete export/import customs documents where required.
Ensure the correct documentation is produced depending of country of destination and the status of the goods.
Charging of own files
Assisting colleagues during staff absences / holidays including imports/exports
Managing distribution and depot/depot costs.
Managing the department to meet the requirements of the company.
Encourage and implement best practice across the department.

The successful Air Freight Manager must have a proven experience within airfreight, will have completed IATA courses, provide an excellent service through verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

We are keen to speak to people who have commercial awareness, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and strong team ethics.

In return, the Air Freight Manager will be offered a salary up to £40,000, depending on skills and experience.
