Business Development Manager – EU Roadfreight and Customs – West Yorkshire (England)

Our international forwarding and logistics Client, has been established for over 150 years, handling export and import shipping requirements for overland transport, sea freight, air freight and contract logistics, throughout Europe and Worldwide.  As a result of continued growth, they are currently looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team in West Yorkshire, covering the North of England, including Lancashire and Cheshire.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and focusing on European road transport and customs, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing core services.  Each day will involve fieldwork, including identifying and targeting potential new clients as well as working closely with existing customers and colleagues to strengthen existing relationships.

We’re keen to talk to people who have at least 2 years proven business development experience in freight forwarding background, who have connections within the industry.

It goes without saying; to be a successful Business Development Manager you will have excellent communication and customer service skills and be self-motivated with a hard- working driven ethos.  Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of an established team.

Business Development Manager duties include:

Initiate sales activities, focusing on European road transport and customs
Developing business relationships with existing and new customer base
Identifying sales leads and developing core services
Prepare, deliver and follow up quotations and leads
Recording, reporting and analysing the outcomes
Understanding of freight forwarding, particularly road freight and customs
A knowledge of Ocean and Airfreight would also be an advantage

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 9am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday. 

The Business Development Manager is being offered an attractive package with a basic salary in the region of £45 to £50k, plus yearly sales bonus, as well as private medical health scheme and company pension, 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays).  A car allowance, laptop and phone are provided.
