Our client, a supply chain partner and Freight Forwarder, is currently looking for an experienced Import Customs Clerk to join their team in Suffolk.
The role of the Import Customs Clerk is to ensure the smooth and efficient movement of goods through customs processes, overseeing the import customs clearance process for shipments.
You will complete customs clearance entries from start to finish for imports and exports, dealing with various modes of transport via Air, Road and Sea.
Main duties of the Import Customs Clerk:
Monitor deliveries, ensuring containers have been collected within the correct time frame.
Ensure adherence to all relevant customs regulations, laws, and policies.
Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries, concerns, and providing regular updates on the progress of import customs clearance.
Liaise with customers, arranging delivery booking and ensuring they are kept up to date with and delivery issues.
Ensure all customs clearance declarations are submitted correctly.
Create job files for Import LCL, FCL and Air shipments.
Coordinate with overseas agents and the internal sales department when required.
Provide quotes for agents.
The successful Import Customs Clerk will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in an Import Customs entry position within the Freight or Logistics industry.
You will need to have knowledge of customs Import & Export processes.
Experience required:
Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import / export laws, and procedures, including tariff codes, HS codes, and trade agreements.
Experience using systems such as Destin8, CHIEF and MultiFreight.
Familiarity with customs clearance software and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems.
