A new opportunity has arisen for a Transport Coordinator to join our client, an international Logistics company based in Chelmsford. Hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 2pm-11pm.
Your role as the Transport Coordinator will be to book jobs in with third party hauliers, plan routes for HGV vehicles, and communicate any delays or cancellations with other departments within the company.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be liaising with the drivers throughout their shift, ensuring any changes or delays are communicated.
Other duties of the Transport Coordinator:
Recording and sending POD’s as required.
Liaise with third-party haulers and contractors
Book slots for the drivers to collect and shunt containers, ensuring they use VBS system
Deal with all minor vehicle repairs, reporting any defects to appropriate contractors to get repaired
Book MOTs and services for the company vehicles when needed.
Deal with any breakdowns, and calling them in
Ensure the filing system is kept organised and up to date with all relevant transport paperwork
To be the successful Transport Coordinator, you will need to have experience working with in the industry.
We are looking for candidates who have excellent IT / PC literacy knowledge, especially with using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Having a HGV Class 1 license or experience of yard shunters experience would be an advantage. Car driving license is essential.
