Operations Coordinator – St Albans (England)

Our Client is a European trailer operator and freight forwarder, and they are currently looking for an Operations Coordinator to join their team in St Albans, to work with their experienced management team. This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 08.00 – 18.00 (1 in 4 Saturday mornings, 08.30 – 12.30).  The successful Operations Coordinator will receive a salary of £25-30k depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and progressive company.

To be considered for the Operations Coordinator role, we are looking to speak with candidates who are passionate, ambitious and want to develop a career in international logistics. You must have UK or European transport operations experience and excellent negotiation skills to increase turnover and profit. Experience of working within a transport/logistics company would be an advantage.

Operations Coordinator duties include:

  • Liaising with UK and European clients, both verbally and in writing, focusing on one key account to ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Planning collections and deliveries of groupage, part and full load consignments, working to strict deadlines.
  • Liaising with suppliers, ensuring work is being carried out effectively.
  • Negotiating with clients and suppliers to try and maximise profitability.
  • Raising orders and processing necessary administration on the in-house software system.

Other requirements for the Operations Coordinator role:

  • Excellent communication skills (Written & Verbal)
  • A confident personality with a can do attitude.
  • A professional, positive and helpful attitude.
  • Numerate and literate, it is vital that the successful candidate is able to explain complex logistical issues concisely in both written and verbal form.
  • IT literate.
  • Ambitious with a desire to succeed.
  • Presentable, energetic and enthusiastic.
  • Strong organisational skills with an excellent memory.
