Our Client, a long-established and hugely successful, privately owned shipping company, is in need of an experienced Road Freight Operator to meet the current high demand of their services. Youll be processing and managing European and UK roadfreight shipments from start to finish, not to mention everything in between! Day to day duties will include negotiating commercial pricing, placing bookings and raising shipping documentation. This vacancy is based in Dover and is offered on a full-time permanent basis in return for a salary in the region of £30k. We’d love to speak to skilled people with commercial pricing experience or shipment knowledge from having worked as a Road Freight Operator, Operations Clerk, and Internal Sales or similar, within a shipping / freight background.
Successful Road Freight Operators will have a good operational know-how of shipping procedures, excellent relationship building skills, with customers and suppliers alike, and an eye for identifying new business opportunities, then upselling the services on offer. You’ll be proficient at prioritising you workload and recognise this as important within a busy operations team. Your attention to detail skills will be second to none. This Road Freight Operation position is a senior one, where youll be expected to lead by example, demonstrating your acquired skills to the next generation of freight professionals.

Duties of the Road Freight Operator:
- Manage roadfreight booking process with customers and suppliers.
- Obtain and process pricing enquiries for all forms of road transport.
- Operate internal operations system, on-line booking and sales platforms, customs documentation.
- Manage sales and cost reconciliation on a shipment by shipment basis.
- Raise accurate operational documentation such as Load sheets, Certificates of Origin and EUR1s with great attention to detail.
- Face to face customer meetings where required with specific objectives and results to achieve.
