DB Schenker has opened new warehouse facilities in Ilvesvuori, Nurmijärvi, in the capital area of Finland.

The Nurmijärvi Distribution Center (NDC) spans 25,600 square meters and has been constructed in line with the BREEAM Very Good sustainability certificate. The center utilizes geothermal heat and energy generated by its own solar panels (300 kWp). Together with the adjacent warehouse opened in 2012, DB Schenker now operates a 50,000 square meter contract logistics center in Ilvesvuori.

The new warehouse aligns with the Eco Warehouse environmental standards set by Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker’s parent company. The expanded contract logistics hub in the metropolitan area offers a broad range of storage services conveniently situated along the Helsinki-Tampere motorway E12, catering to storage needs across the Nordic region. Petteri Nurmi, CEO of DB Schenker in Nordics, highlights the improved opportunities and increased capacity the facility provides.

Six of our previous warehouses in Finland have been awarded Eco Warehouse environmental status by our parent company Deutsche Bahn. This latest warehouse also meets these requirements.

Our contract logistics hub in the metropolitan area, which has now doubled in size, enables us to offer a wide range of storage services conveniently located along the Helsinki–Tampere motorway E12 and opens up new opportunities for our customers’ storage needs throughout the Nordic region.

With a total investment of €13.5 million, the Ilvesvuori contract logistics hub enables DB Schenker to offer value-added services, fast delivery times, and excellent connections to the Finnish road network, main ports, and Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The facilities can be tailored to meet customer requirements, including both surface area and facility type, accommodating chemical storage as well.
